Year 2 Closure Home Learning:
Friday 10th July 2020
Home learning for w/b 13th July 2020
Hello Year 2!
Miss Bick here. I am so excited to meet you all in September. I know you will have some time with Miss Mazzone before coming to me in Year 3, but we will then have the rest of the academic year to share an exciting learning journey together. I have uploaded a letter and an 'all about me' page so that you can get to know me a little bit before you join my class. I have also set you a little 'get to know me' task so that I can learn a little bit about you. I am very excited to see what you send me and can't wait to meet you all properly.
I hope you all have a wonderful summer and I will see you in September! :)
Friday 10th July 2020
Well here we are getting ready for our final week of the school year and what a year it has been! None of us saw the pandemic coming and I don't suppose for one minute we thought that it would last as long as it has.
I want to thank the children first and foremost. Thank you for being mature, thank you for being brave, thank you for trying your best with the home learning, thank you for being you! You have all worked so hard and I am so proud of you all. I have missed you so much but we will have a short while together in September and I can't wait to see you all again.
To the parents, thank you for your on going support and communication during this time. I'm sure the home learning has not always been a smooth run especially while working at the same time! Thank you for persevering and being so open to the changes we have had to put in place.
Later on today, Miss Bick (Y3) will be adding a letter to this page with an 'All about me' exercise for the children to complete for her. Please look out for this and send it back to her Y3 email once complete.
Finally, I want to wish you all a wonderful Summer. Take a break and enjoy some well-earned fun!
All the best
Miss Mazzone :)
Home learning for week beginning 6th July
Good morning Year 2. I hope you enjoyed your weekend. I spent some of my weekend baking and made a Dorset Apple Cake. It was delicious, will definitely be making it again!
Attached is your home learning for this week. I saw and heard some super retellings of 'The Way Back Home' last week. Well done.
For your information Miss Rees has asked me to tell you that the Millionaires Club will be closing at 9am on Monday 13th July. To make your words count, you need to have completed the relevant quiz for the book. You will see on our learning page as I have put a message at the top but our class were last weeks weekly winners! Woohoo,!! Very proud, well done :)
The English this week is made up of 2 reading tasks, both with 3 activities to complete and a writing task linked to a video called 'Marshmallows.' I would like you to predict what might happen and write the next part of the story.
The Maths this week is focused on telling the time and there are a few tasks for you to have a go at.
The Geography is linked to Brazil, specifically Rio de Janeiro and I would like you to find out some facts about the River Amazon!! Of course, there is also an activity linked to food!
As usual, there are some fun activities for you to have a go at if you wish.
Have a great week!
Home learning for week beginning 29th June
Good morning Year 2. I hope you have had a lovely weekend.
Attached is your learning for this week and I am hoping that I have remembered to attach all the relevant links!
I hope you enjoyed last weeks learning tasks. Thank you to those of you that have sent me emails with some of the work you have been completing, I love to see what you have been up to! Y2homelearning@blisworth.northants.sch.uk
The English this week consists of two SPAG tasks and a video from the Literacy Shed called 'The Way Back Home.' This is a lovely story with no words about a little boy who flies to the moon in his rocket and helps out an alien in trouble.
Maths this week involves counting coins, making the same amounts using different coins and giving change.
In Geography, I want you to find out all about France and have a go at making a famous French landmark out of junk!
As usual, there is some fun stuff to try at the bottom including drying flowers and making cake pops! :)
Have a lovely week Year 2!
UPDATE FOR WEEK BEGINNING 22ND JUNE
I seem to be getting into the habit of not including the links needed! Here is the rhyming words link for this week:
Home learning for week beginning Monday 22nd June
Good morning Year 2. I hope you have had a good week and enjoyed the learning tasks. I have had some brilliant work over email. It is so lovely to see how you are all doing.
I am so looking forward to seeing you all in September when you are back with me for a short while! We will have to have a good catch up :)
The English next week are all activities that build up to writing your own poem so it would be useful to complete these in order. The Maths focus is on position and direction with some fun links to football! This week in Geography, I want you to find out about Shanghai in Asia and the art activity is linked to pandas! The 'fun stuff' this week is to have a go at making a memory box, vanilla fudge and a wormery! Make sure you don't get the last two mixed up otherwise it would be like a recipe from Roald Dahl's revolting recipes! :)
On the main page of the website there is now a ‘Virtual Millionaire Board’ that links to our accelerated reader so those earning certificates get their moment of glory! This will be updated every Monday morning until the end of term. We want to ensure all children get the certificates they have earned and will provide further details of how that will happen in the coming weeks. We are all delighted with the reading going on at home. Well done to George who is at 250,000 words and Eddie at 100,000! Remember, the children can complete a quiz on most books they read if they are on accelerated reader. Every word counts!
Have a lovely weekend everyone :) Learning for next week attached below:
UPDATE FOR WEEK BEGINNING 15TH JUNE
I do apologise, I forgot to attach the link for the reading task onto the word document. Please see link below:
Home learning for week beginning Monday 15th June 2020
Good afternoon Year 2. I hope you have enjoyed the activities set this week. I have loved reading your emails showing the work you have completed and I have to say, your sunflowers are beating mine! I don't have a flower yet! :)
Attached is the learning for next week. The English next week is a mixture of SPAG and reading tasks with a writing task to end the week. The Maths this week is again, on one area (grouping). There are a number of videos and tasks to complete. The foundation subjects link again, this week on the topic of Africa! There is also some 'fun stuff' at the end to have a go at as usual.
Have a good weekend everyone! :) Learning for next week attached below:
Home learning for week beginning Monday 8th June 2020
Good afternoon Year 2. I hope you have enjoyed the activities set this week. I have loved reading some of your emails showing the work you have completed :)
Attached is the learning for this week. I would advise that the English activities are done in order as they build up to a writing task. The Maths this week is all on one area (sharing equally). There are a number of videos and tasks to complete which is why there is nothing extra. The foundation subjects link again, this week on the topic of Australia! There is also some 'fun stuff' at the end to have a go at.
Have a good weekend everyone! :) Learning for next week attached below:
Home learning for week beginning Monday 1st June 2020
Hello Year 2. I hope you have all had a good half term. We had a lovely time planting in the garden, walking and cycling!
Now that school has re-opened and some children are back at school, home learning will be set once a week for the whole week. The work will be set the Friday before and the tasks set are intended to take the week to complete. There will be English and Maths tasks each week along with activities relating to the Foundation subjects (Science, Geog etc..) although these may change to incorporate other subjects. I will also add some 'fun stuff' ideas at the bottom to have a go at if you wish. Remember, you do not have to complete all the activities and you may wish to adapt them to suit the needs of the children (some days they learn better than others!) I have not added set days, just bullet pointed ideas for tasks. The English tasks for this week will need to be completed in order but this may not always be the case.
Here is your learning for next week:
I want to take this opportunity to say how proud I am of all your hard work and how you are all dealing with this strange time. I have received lots of lovely emails bursting with photos of what you have been up to. They are such a pleasure to read and it means that I can see how you are doing :) You are amazing Year 2 and I miss you very much. There may come a time when it is your turn to return to school when guidelines change, until then, carry on completing the home learning and send me an email to: Y2homelearning@blisworth.northants.sch.uk
