 Good Morning Everyone.

It was lovely to speak to you all last week!

Tapestry continues to be the place you use so I'm going to avoid duplicating.

You can find all of our ideas, tasks and challenges on there.

If you run into technical difficulties on Tapestry, contact me on yrhomelearning@blisworth.northants.sch.uk

Have a lovely week!

Good Morning and Welcome to another week of home learning.

It has been lovely speaking to you all over the past week and I am so glad to hear that you are finding the materials useful. Thank you for your lovely comments in regards to the “Story Time with Miss Warren” videos. I hope the children continue to enjoy them.

Maths

This week’s maths challenges are based on the stories The Night Pirates and The Troll.

The Story Links, Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5.

As usual, I’ll also pop some more ideas and materials on Tapestry. Pick and choose those which are most appealing to you and your children. We all learn in different ways, and the best things about Early Years is the freedom of teaching and learning to achieve the same objective.

Have a lovely week and I’ll see you on Tapestry

Monday 20th April 2020

Good Morning and Welcome to this week’s home learning.

I hope that you had a lovely Easter holidays and enjoyed the sunshine. It looks like we have another three weeks of home learning so firstly, I hope that you are all okay. Secondly, I have created some more detailed materials to support the delivery of phonics. In Reception, the majority of our learning is though play and carefully planned experiences and questioning. Phonics is a planned adult led lesson, which ususallyy takes place daily to develop children’s reading and writing skills.

Phonics

RWI have created free ebooks, which are available online and are tablet friendly. This is free and does not require a log in. Click the link on the first page of the document and it should take you straight to the page. I have created 4 lessons to support the teaching of a book which I will share with you weekly. Please see the PDF attached which is designed to support parents deliver phonics lessons. These are in addition to the free YouTube videos released by RWI. There is no pressure to deliver all the sessions but know that the material is there to support you.

Maths

This week’s maths challenges are based on the story ‘Supertato’. If you have a copy of the book, enjoy reading it together first. I have also found an ecopy and attached it here. You don’t have to have a copy of the book to complete the challenges. There are five sessions attached to support the teaching and learning of maths across the week. They are designed for parents to discuss with the children. Take the “best bits” and those which you feel are appropriate for your child’s curiosity and interests.

In addition to Phonics and Maths, please find a weekly overview of Home Learning Ideas to support all areas of learning in Reception.

Home Learning Focus Sheet

I always like to remind parents that children learn in different ways; all through play, many through crafts and some through worksheets. Throughout the week, I’ll also pop some more ideas and materials on Tapestry. Pick and choose those which are most appealing to you and your children. We all learn in different ways, and one of the best things about Early Years is the freedom we have to achieve the same objective.

Have a lovely week and I’ll see you on Tapestry.

Keep it happy, relaxed and calm.

Happy Easter

Thank you to you all for your continued support over the past two weeks. I hope that you have found the resources uploaded to Tapestry and the website useful. It has been an absolute pleasure to see what the children have been up too and I welcome you to continue uploading observations over the Easter Break.

Attached is a Whole School Easter Challenge, which we encourage all children to explore over the Easter Break. There are a range of activities for all year groups from art and craft to poetry and Easter cards.

Monday 30th March 2020

Good Morning and Welcome to your second week of Home Learning.

Leading the Learning:

To support this week’s learning, I have created another focus sheet to give you some adult initiated examples on how you might lead the learning at home. I will also continue to send suggestions through Tapestry.

Home Learning Focus Sheet for Week 2

Please continue to participate in the RWI Phonics sessions on Ruth Miskin’s YouTube Chanel. These will be uploaded daily and be available for 24hrs. These are the Speed Sound Sessions, which I would teach daily in school. You can also set reminders. Reception have completed Set 1 sounds and have begun Set 2 sounds. Set 1 videos are good for letter formation practice but if you would like to complete just one video, please do Set 2.

Following the Learning:

Over the past week, the strongest observations have been those where parents have followed the children’s interests. In Reception, we call the ‘Following the Learning’. Parents are encouraged to intervene and join to play and use questions and modelling to develop learning. You may also share a video or photograph on Tapestry and I can respond with some ideas too.

Please see an attachment of the EYFS Early Learning Goals and some prompts for parents.

Tapestry Support:

If you would like another relative to be added to your child’s Tapestry account, please let me know and I can add them. Some parents might like to add grandparents who can view and comment too.Thank you for all of your observations, pictures and videos. It has been an absolute pleasure seeing the children and I hope my suggestions have been helpful. If you have not uploaded yet, I would love to hear from you this week.

Enjoy your second week and please do not hesitate to contact me for support

Take Care,

Miss Warren

Monday 23rd March 2020

Good Morning and Welcome to your first day of Home Learning!

Home Learning Focus Sheets:

To begin the week, I have created a Home Learning focus sheet to support give you some activities and ideas to support the childrens’ learning this week. I welcome lots of observations of these on Tapestry.

Home Learning Focus Sheet

Tapestry:

Throughout the week, I will also be uploading challenges to Tapestry. Please ensure that your notification settings are switched on. This can be done through the browser. As we are now teaching and learning from home, it is important that all Tapestry challenges are completed and evidenced by uploading an observation. If you have any questions about the learning challenges, please comment on the original challenge set and I will respond the best I can. Your comments along with videos and pictures are important in order for me to give accurate feedback and next steps. Where possible, please comment on what the children are doing and how you supported their learning. I will respond to all observations with feedback, comments or next steps to give you an idea of what we as teacher’s would have done to further support learning in the classroom.

Now and again, you may see a video of me, either to support parents with teaching and learning or to show the children their teacher in “virtual teaching mode”. I ask you to, please respect the privacy of teachers and other pupils by using them with only your children and not post them on social media.

Tapestry Support: https://tapestry.info/parents-carers.html

Enjoy your first week and I look forward to lots of Tapestry observations.

Kindest Regards and Best Wishes,

Miss Warren
