25/3/20 - Accelerated Reader Quizzes – Coming Soon
We are in the process of setting up the system to allow quizzing from home. To ensure that there is continuity between the quizzes taken at school and the quizzes taken at home, please take a few moments to read the information/guidance given by Accelerated Reader:
“We don’t usually encourage quizzing at home as it can affect test accuracy and result in data being distorted. There is also a risk of students returning to school with inconsistent or unrepresentative reading ages, or misleading reading ranges due to improper quiz practice. However, due to these exceptional circumstances, we are allowing students to quiz at home for a limited period.
We advise students complete quizzes unaided. If parents/carers wish to support their child, they can do so in the following ways:
- Discuss the book with their child as the book is being read
- Ask their child to read the question aloud
- Re-word questions for their child, if necessary
- Ask their child which answers are not correct”
These pages provide the key information parents, children and visitors are most likely to need. Information is updated regularly and gives a good overview of the life of the school.
There are times when parents in some classes need ready access to documents or information and we will post them on this page to make them easier to find.
Year 6 information for the residential trip to the Isle of Wight 2020 can be found here.
In January we held the Year 6 SATs Evening for parents, which was very well attended. For those who would like to recap the information, or for those that didn't make it, the information can be found here.
On the evening of 10/12/19 we held a meeting to discuss our Sex and Relationship provision with parents. This has always been taught at Blisworth but the scheme of work is now within Jigsaw which covers other aspects of children's health, social and emotional education. During the meeting we discussed why sex education is important to children's development and how Jigsaw fits into that. All parents at the meeting were asked to provided written feedback via a sheet so that we can gauge parental views.
The following materials were handed out to parents and formed the basis on the conversation. If other parents would like to share their views with school, the feedback sheet is provided below or we can send home a paper version - please contact the office who will organise that.
