Be the Best You Can Be

Remembrance Poppies

The children are all making a very simple ceramic poppy and we plan to ‘plant’ them on the front corner of the school. Weather permitting our two minute silence on Tuesday November 11th at 11am will take place outside where the poppies have been placed.

Each child was given a ball of clay.

They then rolled it out between two guides to get the right thickness.

They cut around a poppy template.

A hole was made in the middle with a cutter, and the edges of the poppy smoothed.

They shaped the poppies by cupping them in their hands.

They were then ready to go into the kiln.

The next stage is to paint them and put a stick with a cork on the end for the stalk.  This is what they look like when they are finished.

Here they are, ready to be planted.
